Customer story: Valmet
15.08.2025
Valmet’s automation systems business delivers intelligent automation solutions ranging from single measurements to mill or plant-wide process automation systems. Valmet provides solutions for pulp, board, paper, tissue, nonwovens, energy, marine and process industries. 40% of the paper and board in the world is produced with Valmet's paper machines.

MSc’s converters are a small but important component of paper machinery. The converters are used in power input to the induction heating equipment that optimises the precise caliper and gloss control of the paper product.
MSc has been supplying converters for Valmet’s paper machinery for over twenty years. Product Manager Toni Räty is well versed in the induction heating equipment, for example, handling quality control issues and supporting the Valmet’s sales organization on a global scale.
“When it comes to service and maintenance, our customers do not opt for the “one size fits all” approach. Some prefer to plan maintenance activities proactively and carry out regular predictive maintenance, while others prioritize and make decisions based on cost and benefit,” says Räty. However, transparent and speedy maintenance services are important for both.
“It is very important for our customers that their equipment is in working order and that spare parts are easily available. This is crucial for the availability of the machinery,” Räty emphasizes. To secure redundancy, MSc delivers critical spare parts already with the first product delivery. A maintenance-friendly environment means that customers are able to handle replacements themselves.
”Our co-operation with MSc has been honed over the years to respond to the high performance requirements of ourcustomers,” says Toni Räty. “Our communication, deliveries and maintenance works well. We have been able to develop a co-operation where we take a proactive stance to maintenance, planning ahead and diagnosing and assessing maintenance needs based on symptoms. This helps us to make informed decisions on what actions to take.”
